Phalaenopsis Orchids are a very fashionable indoor flowering plant. They are consistently seen adorning the pages of glossy design magazines, cafes, inner-city apartments, beach front homes, fashion boutiques and even feature in art gallery installations. The fabulous large blooms make a beautiful interior design element. Also known as Moth Orchid, these elegant plants can be slow to grow, but are very rewarding when they finally flower.
This is the first Phalaenopsis Orchid that I have managed to get to flower at home. I brought it home from the shop about 18 months ago and put it on the windowsill in my bathroom where it could get plenty of morning sunshine and moist, warm air from the shower. It took about a year for the flower spike to grow and then another six months before it actually bloomed. Few people would understand my excitement and delight when that first bloom opened!
With two more flowering spikes on their way, I look forward to enjoying this gorgeous flowering plant for many months to come.
